With so many photographers out there, how do you know which one to choose?

There are some great photographers.  There are also some not so great photographers.  The number one suggestion I would give is ask to see a wedding from start to finish.  Lot’s of photographers can take a handful of pictures into photoshop and make them look good, but they can’t do that with every single picture from the wedding day.  Make sure they show you a recent wedding from the first picture to the last.  Also, experience counts when it comes to wedding photography.  Sometimes even the best photographer has a hard time with weddings.  You have to be ready to capture every moment when it happens.  An experienced wedding photographer will understand the flow of a wedding and be ready for every moment.

What are some things brides should keep in mind when deciding on photography?

Your photography should be unique to you. A good photographer will not try to force their styles on you.  If someone comes in and has no preferences at all then we will work hard to help them decide what locations and styles best fit them.  But, we also love it when a couple has lots of ideas.  Even though you may not know anything about photography, a good photographer will be able to take your ideas and make amazing pictures out of them.  I had a couple who met in a library, and they loved very artistic photography.  The result was one of the most amazing Salt Lake Library engagements I have ever done.  I think a lot of couples are afraid to say what they are thinking because they feel like they don’t know anything about photography.  That’s okay!  Give us your ideas.  Tell us what you like.  Then we can personalize your pictures to fit you.

These are some great things to keep in mind to keep in mind when deciding on photography.  Make sure to really research your photographer so you don’t end up with pictures of our wedding you don’t like!

At that age she got her first camera and quickly began taking rolls and rolls of pictures. She enjoys photographing almost anything, but specifically wedding photography and nature. Emily is a people person and can make any wedding or event exciting and fun. She loves capturing people’s emotions whether it is for a wedding, family or newborn portraits as you can see below.
